Informationsbedürfnis von Krebspatienten
Abstract
Jedes Jahr sterben in Europa mehr als 1.2 Millionen Menschen an Krebs. Das bedeutet, dass auch in diesem Jahr eine Stadt in der Größe von München, Prag oder Brüssel dem Krebs erliegt. Aufgrund der Geriatrisierung unserer Bevölkerung werden wir die Anzahl der Krebspatienten innerhalb der nächsten 20 Jahre verdoppeln. Wir können somit davon ausgehen, dass 30% der Menschen in Europa im Laufe ihres Lebens an Krebs erkranken. Obwohl die Onkologen seit über 50 Jahren Chemotherapien applizieren, hat man sich bisher nur ansatzweise die Frage gestellt, was die Indikationsstellung Krebs für die Patienten bedeutet, obwohl auch im Jahre 2009 ungefähr die Hälfte aller Erkrankten ihrem Leiden erliegen werden. Aus diesem Grunde hat sich das Health Care Competence Center (HC3) in Zürich im Zusammenspiel mit der European Health Care Foundation Zürich (EUHCF) der Fragestellung „Informationsverhalten von Krebspatienten“ angenommen.
Information behaviour among cancer patients
Every year in Europe more than 1.2 million people die of cancer. This means that this year a city the size of Munich, Prague or Brussel will be wiped out by this desease. Due to the geriatrisation of our population, the number of cancer patients will double within the next 20 years. Although oncologists have been applying chemotherapy for more than 50 years, up to now very little thought has been given to the question as to what cancer actually means for the patient even though in the year 2009 approximately 40% of all those suffering from cancer will die of this disease. This was the reason why the Health Care Competence Center (HC3) is now addressing this matter in co-operation with the European Health Care Foundation Zurich (EUHCF).
